About Us
Jordan River Village is Israel’s only overnight medically-safe camp designed to serve children confronting serious illness or disability.
Located in the lower Galilee region, Jordan River Village offers more than just your typical overnight camp experience. Our primary goal is to create a nurturing environment where children can flourish, regardless of the obstacles they face. Since launching our year-round camp in 2012, JRV has dedicatedly served over 30,000 children. Annually, we service 8,000 children and 700 family members. We extend this opportunity to every child, irrespective of socio-economic status, ethnicity, religion, or nationality, completely free of charge.
Since Oct 7th JRV has shown that no matter how severe the problem, or how complex the trauma impacting the children of Israel, JRV is there for them, responding with resilience building care and nurturing fun in a medically and psychologically safe environment.
A Message from the Board
“
The AFJRV board, like Jews all over the world, watched on October 7 with horror the unimaginable and unprecedented inhumane acts of terror inflicted by Hamas on the Israeli people. Before the full immensity of what had occurred could even be processed, the AFJRV board sprang into action pivoting its focus towards providing immediate financial and assistance to the Village in its vital efforts to aid displaced persons, war traumatized families and, eventually, hostages and their loved ones.

Our Impact
During 2023, Jordan River Village (JRV) experienced a transformative journey with two distinct phases: pre- and post-October 7.
Before the war JRV reached notable achievements, including hosting sessions for children with serious medical conditions, expanding outreach programs, and fostering new partnerships, particularly with children’s hospitals. However, the landscape underwent a significant shift after October 7, leading JRV to swiftly adapt and provide crucial support to families affected by the war. This involved establishing a school for war-displaced children with special needs, hosting 150 displaced families, and organizing weekend retreats for returned hostages and their families, as well as families of hostages who have yet to be released.
Pre-October 7
The Village served thousands of children and families in need through five specialized programs:
Hospital Outreach Program:
Built to reach medical facility-dependent children
children served through 11 partnership with children’s hospitals

“
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Jordan River Village for the incredibly meaningful healing experience we had this past weekend. Your support meant the world to all the grandchildren, children, and the entire family. Being the family of a hostage in Gaza is challenging, and your profound love, from the CEO to the entire team, including Betty, the head of the kitchen, the kitchen staff, the maintenance team, and Supervisor Avi, was truly a healing experience. It is exactly what we needed.
